Service on the Student Leadership Team (S.L.T. or “salt” - Matthew 5:13) is a ministry and its purpose is to lead through work, prayer, and example to further the mission of helping college students grow together into the saints they are called to be. SLT members model Christian discipleship and servant leadership, expecting no gain or recognition for their service. Student leaders do not just plan or manage––they become disciples and evangelizers, “fishers of students” (Luke 5:10). They joyfully and faithfully represent Jesus and his Church in all areas of college life (Matthew 10:40; Romans 10:14-17).
Student leaders, appointed at the end of the Fall Semester, commit for one year (December to December) to the following:
–continual growth in love for Jesus and his Church (e.g., an active prayer life, regular confession, retreats, reading, classes, works of mercy, Eucharistic Adoration, etc.)
–regular and full participation in Sunday Mass at the Catholic Center. Daily Mass attendance highly encouraged. Participation in a majority of Tulane Catholic events.
–hospitality and openness toward all (especially newcomers) at Tulane Catholic events. Inviting others into the life and mission of the Church.
–willingly going above and beyond to further the mission of Tulane Catholic.
–carrying out the tasks of their particular position as outlined at the beginning of their term.
–Weekly attendance at Student Leadership Team meetings (date and time TBD).
If at any point a student leader is not able to fulifll these duties, he or she will be asked to step down from the ministry.
